The sludge storage hopper is a key pretreatment device in the filter press system for temporarily storing the sludge to be treated, and is usually located at the front end of the filter press feed end.
Its core functions are buffer storage and balanced feeding: through reasonable volume design (mostly using corrosion-resistant stainless steel or carbon steel lined plastic materials), it receives and stores wet sludge from the previous process, adjusts the flow difference between intermittent feeding and continuous operation of the filter press, and avoids system load fluctuations.
The hopper body is often equipped with a stirring device (such as a low-speed paddle or a pneumatic arch breaker) to prevent sludge from settling and ensuring uniform flow of materials; the bottom is connected to the filter press through a screw pump or a diaphragm pump to accurately control the feed pressure and speed, providing a stable mud source for the filtration stage.
This structure effectively improves the filtration efficiency, reduces the empty load of the filter chamber, and reduces the energy consumption caused by the frequent start and stop of the mud pump. It is an important component to ensure the continuous and efficient operation of the filter press system.
