Barium carbonate (BaCO₃) is a vital chemical used in ceramics, glass, rubber, and pigments. Its production involves several key steps to ensure high quality and efficiency.
The process starts with the calcination of barium-containing raw materials to produce barium oxide (BaO). Water is then added to form a slurry, which reacts to generate barium carbonate precipitation.
A filter press is essential for this stage, removing excess water from the slurry and forming a filter cake. Membrane plate filter presses are particularly effective, offering higher dehydration rates and lower moisture content than traditional chamber presses. The final filter cake typically reaches around 30% moisture.
Kerte’s advanced filter press solutions provide additional advantages, including higher production capacity, efficient dewatering, and labor-saving features like air blow functions, plate shaking systems, and fast-opening devices. Automatic filter cloth washing prolongs equipment life and ensures consistent operation.
After filtration, the barium carbonate filter cake undergoes drying, crushing, and packaging. Drying is energy-intensive, so reducing moisture beforehand with a filter press not only saves energy but also improves overall production efficiency.
Kerte’s filter press technology is designed to optimize dewatering, delivering high-quality barium carbonate while reducing energy consumption and operational costs.
