A membrane filter press is a type of filter press that incorporates an elastic membrane between the filter plates and filter cloth. During operation, after feeding is complete, high-pressure fluid or gas can be injected into the membrane plates. This causes the entire membrane to expand and compress the filter cake, thereby achieving further dewatering of the cake—a process commonly referred to as compression filtration.
Membrane filter presses offer advantages such as high pressing pressure, excellent corrosion resistance, ease of maintenance, and reliable safety, making them the preferred choice for customers in industries such as metallurgy, coking, papermaking, coking, pharmaceuticals, food processing, brewing, and fine chemicals.
Membrane filter presses have been widely applied in various fields requiring solid-liquid separation. Membrane filter presses are considered an upgraded replacement for conventional chamber filter presses.
Membrane filter presses demonstrate superior performance in terms of processing capacity per unit area, reducing filter cake moisture content, and adaptability to the properties of the processed material.
The primary difference between membrane filter presses and conventional chamber filter presses lies in the installation of two elastic membranes (composite rubber membranes are integral membrane sheets) on both sides of the filter plates. During operation, after feeding is complete, high-pressure fluid medium is injected into the membrane plates. At this point, the entire membrane expands, compressing the filter cake to achieve further dewatering, known as pressure filtration.
Membrane filter presses are applied in sludge and wastewater treatment, with the lowest filter cake moisture content achieved below 60%. Compared to traditional chamber filter presses, the solid content of the filter cake can be increased by more than twofold, significantly reducing transportation costs. The filter cake can be directly incinerated in power plants, truly transforming sludge into a resource and wastewater into clean water, completely replacing chamber filter presses.
