The filter press is a high-efficiency filtering device used for solid-liquid separation. It is driven by mechanical pressure to separate solid particles from liquid in a suspension. Its core structure includes multiple sets of filter plates, filter cloths, clamping devices and hydraulic systems. The filter plates are usually made of reinforced polypropylene or metal, arranged into filter chambers, and the filter cloths are covered on the surface of the filter plates as filter media.
During operation, the material enters the filter chamber under the action of a high-pressure pump, the liquid is discharged through the filter cloth (filtrate), and the solids are intercepted to form a filter cake, which is then further dehydrated by extrusion. Some models are also equipped with an air drying function to reduce the moisture content of the filter cake.
The characteristics of the filter press include:
① High-efficiency dehydration capacity, which can reduce the moisture content of the material to 15%-50%;
② Modular design, the number of filter plates can be adjusted to meet different processing requirements;
③ High degree of automation, equipped with PLC control, automatic plate pulling and liquid connection system;
④ Strong corrosion resistance, key components are made of special steel or polymer materials;
⑤ The filtration accuracy can reach micron level, which can be adjusted by filter cloth selection. According to the structural differences, it is mainly divided into plate and frame filter press and chamber filter press. The former is suitable for high solid content materials, while the latter is good at processing fine particle suspension.
This equipment is widely used in mining (tailings treatment), chemical industry (catalyst recovery), food (edible oil fine filtration), environmental protection (sludge dehydration), medicine (fermentation liquid separation) and other fields, especially suitable for the recovery of difficult to filter, high viscosity or high value materials. Its processing capacity range is wide, with a single processing capacity of 0.5m³ for small machines and up to 200m³ for large machines. It is a key solid-liquid separation solution in modern industrial production.
