From Start to Finish: How to Install Filter Cloth on Your Filter Press Like a Pro

Proper filter cloth installation is crucial for ensuring your filter press performs efficiently and operates without leakage. A well-installed filter cloth not only guarantees excellent filtration results but also extends the service life of both the cloth and the equipment. Follow these clear steps to install your filter cloth like a professional.

1. Install the Cloth Pins

Begin by installing the hanging pins on the filter plate. Use a hammer to tap them gently into position — firm enough to hold but without damaging the plate. These pins will be used to hang the filter cloth securely later, so make sure they are evenly placed and well aligned.

2. Prepare and Roll the Filter Cloth

Lay the filter cloth flat on a clean surface to remove any wrinkles. Fold it in half once, then fold it again to make it compact. Next, roll it tightly from one end into a slender tube shape. This step is critical — avoid rolling it too thick. A tight roll makes it much easier to thread the cloth through the feeding hole of the filter plate.

3. Insert the Cloth Through the Center Hole

Hold the rolled cloth firmly and insert it through the center feed hole of the filter plate. After pushing it through, locate the end of the cloth that contains the holes for the hanging pins. Make sure this end faces upward — it will be used to attach the cloth to the pins in the next step.

4. Hang the Filter Cloth

Align the hanging holes on the cloth with the cloth pins on the upper edge of the filter plate. Hang each hole one by one, ensuring every pair matches correctly. Continue the process across all plates until the cloths are evenly hung and properly aligned.

5. Adjust and Secure the Cloth

Move to the opposite side of the filter plate. Stretch the cloth flat and check that the center feed hole aligns perfectly. Smooth out any folds or wrinkles. Use the reserved tie holes to thread the cable ties through — one at the top and two at the bottom. Tighten them securely to keep the cloth in place.

6. Final Fixing with O-Rings

As the last step, take the small O-rings and place them over the designated fixing points to lock the cloth in position. Repeat this for all plates to ensure firm and stable installation.
