The essential role of the filter press in dehydration

A filter press is one of the most efficient and reliable technologies for separating liquids from solids across a wide range of industries. How a Kerte Filter Press Works

Each filtration cycle begins at the feed head, where the slurry enters the press through a robust piping system. At the opposite end, the crosshead supports a powerful hydraulic closing mechanism that ensures stable and uniform clamping pressure under demanding conditions.

Between these two ends are the filter plates, which form a series of sealed chambers. Kerte offers a full range of plate configurations and materials to suit standard, corrosive, or highly abrasive slurries. A moving tail plate clamps the plate pack securely and maintains perfect alignment throughout the cycle.

The Role of Filter Cloth

The filter cloth is one of the most critical components in any filter press. Kerte provides optimized cloth materials—including woven fabrics, felted media, coated supports, and special filtration papers—to ensure high efficiency, fast flow rates, and long service life. Each cloth is precisely fitted to the plate design and selected according to the characteristics of your slurry.

Slurry In, Filtrate Out, Solids Captured

During operation, the slurry is pumped into the chambers and flows against the filter cloth. The filtrate (clean liquid) passes through the cloth and exits through filtrate ports, while the solids form a compact filter cake. If needed, the cake can be washed or air-blown to achieve maximum dryness. After the chamber is full, the plates open, and the dry cakes are discharged within seconds.
